Our Story

SieNi was founded in May 2016 in order to implement the "Education for Water Conservation in Colombia" project, which was awarded the "Special Jury Prize" under the Diaspora and Development Award FEDEVACO (Federation of Cooperation of the Canton of Vaud).

The jury stressed the relevance of the project, the participative aspect of its development process,  the innovative prevention proposal aimed at children, as well as its excellent teamwork.

The "Education for Water Conservation in Colombia" project captures the input from the ACIS Symposium 2015, held on 11 and 12 September 2015 at the University of Geneva. The Symposium brought together about 80 Colombian and Swiss actors from academia, government and civil society to take stock of the problem of the deterioration of water quality in Colombia and explore solutions and prospects for international cooperation in the field.

The ACIS 2015 Symposium confirmed the urgency for implementing a prevention strategy at a national level to preserve Colombia’s fresh water supplies. Dozens of scientists specialized in water issues and belonging to various Swiss and Colombian institutions expressed their interest in participating in a cooperation project that  seeks to educate Colombian children about water conservation.
